YOU OR YOUR CHILD HAS RECEIVED A SCHOLARSHIP, NOW WHAT?
First of all, congratulations!

To accept your scholarship, you must send us certain pieces of information, such as your date of birth, and social security number, securely through our encrypted, DocuSign scholarship form. You will have until the deadline listed on the form to complete the form or the offer will expire. A parent or legal guardian must sign if you are a minor.
Once we receive the scholarship form, we can contribute funds directly to an existing account in Alaska 529. If you do not have an existing account, we will establish one for you, in the University of Alaska Portfolio, under the following conditions:
-
Your scholarship account is subject to market gains and losses and may be worth less or more than the initial contribution.
-
You will receive statements showing the account balance at the end of each quarter. It is your responsibility to keep your address information updated and to notify the Education Trust of Alaska of any changes.
-
When you are ready to use the funds in the account, contact Alaska 529 at 1-800-478-0003 to authorize the distribution to an eligible university, college, technical, or vocational school.
-
This account will expire on your 25th birthday. Any remaining balance will be returned to the Education Trust of Alaska. We will attempt to contact you prior to expiration; however, your account will expire on your 25th birthday regardless of whether or not we are successful in reaching you.
-
The Account is not transferable and cannot be sold.
Though you may use the funds for expenses at any eligible university, college, apprenticeship, technical, or vocational school nationally, you are invited to use your scholarship at any campus in the University of Alaska system. We would love to have you!
If you have any tax-related questions about your scholarship account, be sure to reach out to your tax advisor. Please call us or visit Alaska529Plan.com if you have questions. Congratulations on receiving this scholarship!
