The Education Trust of Alaska's connection to the University of Alaska allows it to offer exclusive benefits for account holders and beneficiaries in its 529 plans.

Free application for admission

Account owners and beneficiaries in any of the trust's 529 plans can request a code to waive the admission application fee at any of the University of Alaska campuses.  Request the fee waiver code here, and then head to the admissions application

Attend UA
at the in-state rate

Account holders and beneficiaries who have held an account for two or more years in any of the trust's 529 plans can qualify for in-state tuition at any of the University of Alaska locations.

How to secure in-state tuition:

​

  1. Apply for admission to a University of Alaska campus. 

  2. Complete the UA Residency Form

    • Select "OPTION C: Exemption of Nonresident Surcharge​" 

    • Under OPTION C: Select,"Listed on an active college savings plan account with Alaska 529, T. Rowe Price College Savings Plan, or John Hancock Freedom 529 Plan and have held the account for a minimum of two years prior to the current semester"

    • Return the completed form to the university you are applying to.
